Every platform formats posts differently. The same caption that breathes on Instagram looks cramped on X, and a LinkedIn post that lands in the feed truncates after two lines. Use this preview tool to spot layout issues — overlong captions, truncated headlines, awkward image crops — before you hit publish.
Instagram post mockup
Instagram feed posts use a 1:1 square crop, a gradient ring around the avatar (when posting Stories), and truncate the caption after about 125 characters with a "more" link. The preview above mirrors all three so you can check your hook before posting.
X (Twitter) post preview
X posts cap at 280 characters for free accounts, with URLs counted as 23 characters and most emoji as 2. The preview includes the verified check, like / repost / reply counts, and an attached image when present.
LinkedIn post mockup
LinkedIn truncates posts at around 210 characters in feed before adding a "see more" link. The preview shows that exact truncation point, which is the single biggest factor in whether anyone clicks through to read the rest.
TikTok caption preview
TikTok captions are vertical and overlay the video at the bottom-left. Mobile feed truncates after 3 lines with a "more" tap target. The preview uses a 9:16 frame and the same overlay treatment.
Why preview a post before scheduling?
- Spot truncation early. Most platforms cut off the caption before the limit. The first 1–2 sentences are what matters.
- Catch image-aspect mismatches. A 16:9 photo gets ugly on Instagram. A vertical photo gets squished on X.
- Sanity-check formatting. Hashtags, emoji, line breaks — they all render differently. See it before you post it.
- Share with stakeholders. Screenshot the preview to send to your manager / client for sign-off without scheduling first.
